Useful Information
Here are a few pieces of
information that you may find useful. In fact knowing and
heeding these items can end up saving you a lot of money, time and
aggravation.
Being aware of the many
pitfalls and the procedures of how things are done in France is
part of my expertise and one of the many
reasons why my services will be invaluable to
you on any project you are contemplating.
-
When renovating here in France it is worth noting that in some cases the
TVA (VAT)
will be charged at 19.6% and in others at 5.5%, this is a
minefield and requires the
time taken to ensure what is currently allowed
and that the trades are informed of the
correct route to follow. The
savings of course can be enormous.
-
The Siret. You will note that my Siret number is shown above. In essence
this number tells you that I am legally registered to carry out my
profession in France. It also
assures you that, by law, work carried out by
the holder has certain guarantees.
In
French law you have no recourse if you use unregistered labour and in fact
you can be taken to court.
-
The devi. The devi (quote) is very important and should be thought through
carefully.
Once done and accepted, it is a binding contract for the work quoted.
It is very important to be both precise and detailed when asking for one.
Changing your mind
later can be expensive.
-
Also here in France, it is not required to use an architect if the total
used space is less than 170m2, in this case I or a third party can prepare
the drawings and submit them
to planning, this can save a huge amount of
time and, of course, cost.
-
I
will ensure everyone is registered and correctly insured. This includes
decinal
insurance (relevant insurance on the work carried out) and
responsabilite civile (third party insurance).
